Actually, he didn't quite say that "I don’t know the relative contribution of impurities versus the reflectivity reduction resulting from the first 3 melt factors".
Fair point. The deposition of soot, etc. is also a contributing factor. There must be some interesting interaction though, since as ice melts the density of the impurities should increase.
