Not sure if this what you're looking for, but years ago I visited a village in Sinaloa Mexico. An ex-pat there told me that many years earlier, the onset of rainy season had been so dependable that usually the Catholic priests could time a special Mass that would begin with blue skies and end with rains that signalled the beginning of the planting season. Not any more, though. Climate change? Maybe.
Even though I'm not religious, this story has always stuck with me. Maybe once people can overcome the conceptual hurdle of the earth-sky connection, they might be especially horrified about its implications.
