Yes, this is the Environment Canada forecast for Vancouver

If you need any further proof that forest fire situation in BC is dire (description here), this little symbol to the right just made an appearance in the official Environment Canada forecast for Vancouver.

The text version includes the phrase "Local smoke", which usually has other connotations out here on the West Coast.

It is very hazy outside, but the situation is far worse across the world in Moscow.

Check out the photo at your link to Moscow Times of smoke inside a Moscow subway station.

no, no, that above post does not convey the reality. imagine breathing air so smokey and acrid you're sure your brakes are on fire, for 1000 miles.
of course, one of the reasons we left home was that we could not see the house across the street for 2 years. no, i'm not exaggerating. the street lights came on during the day, and it was supposed to be 24 hour sun.
