There is little attention paid to the less noticeable but equally devastating impacts. The drought this year was mentioned only occasionally - but is catastrophic for the midwest. Media and communicators need to be better at balancing their facts and delivering straightforward information - but I'm sure that's just a pipedream.

As for question number 2 - yes it definately matters that people understand what is going on. After all, people vote. We'll need elected officials that will form more aggressive policies to address this. The IEA recently released their World Energy Outlook that basically said without serious and aggressive government action global temperatures will increase far past the 2 degree mark the UN had previously set as their limit.
Of course, it would also help if everyone did their fair share of mitigating their carbon footprint as well, and that requires solid understanding of the mechanics of the problem. 1) No, climate chang...From the Energy Collective:

1) No, climate change communicators are doing a good job at communicating a basic understanding of the basic causes. Unfortunately, the denialists have a better propaganda machine which convinces the nearly mind dead masses that listen to the fiction of the GOP and Fox news, to name 2 of many sources, that it just ain't so.

2) Yes it matters. It is the lack of understanding for yourself as opposed to taking someone else's word on the matter which is one of 2 focal points of the problem. The other is, of course, greed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
